no chemo for laura :D

Hey, this is a long story, so i'll keep it short!
My maintenence chemo was being moved about 15 min further away (so an hour & 1/2). I did not do well with the first treatment- it was seriously messing with my brain. I contacted a local Dr. about having it moved closer to home. In the process - he suggested i don't do the maintenence chemo due to me having the brain toxicity and the fact that i've just had 2 surgeries and all my biopsies were clean ... he felt that this round may do more harm than good. SO- I'm opting out and taking my chances. It feels good not to have to go thru it again, but on the other hand - it was a "security" blanket. I see my main Dr and surgeon - Dr. A on Monday and will discuss it with him. I'll keep you posted......
thanks for always checking in with me - i really do appreciate it! XXOO laura

  1. Oh Laura! I know what you mean by "security blanket!" I feel that nothing can happen to me because I'm on chemo! But sometimes more is just too much! Decisions are so hard but you seem to be making all good ones!!!! Hang in there--sending big HUGS!

  3. I think its a positive sign that the one Doctor suggests to just nix it for now. Take a few extra days off and try to clear your head. See your surgeon on Monday and worst case, he says do the chemo; best case, he agree's with your other Doc. The security blanket is nice, but your strength and faith are far greater! RK

  5. Yipeeeeeee! So happy to hear that, Sis. I know exactly what you mean about "security blanket". I went through that after my treatment was over. After your email a few weeks ago, I wrote a long email, then read your last post about more surgeries. So I started re-writing and... here I am. I'll write this weekend.

Sending virtual kisses & hugs your way,
    Mieko

  8. What ever you decide I know will be the best for your journey. I hope next year at this time your hardest choice will be what color to paint your toenails, Laura.

  9. It seems to me that the local dr made the right call for you at this point.... your body has been through so much over the past months, and perhaps it just was telling you it couldn't take anymore right now. Hang in there, best wishes for continued good reports and tests, and know that you've got so many people behind and around you, supporting you each step of the way!
